Down but Not Out

It's been nearly a year since my position was eliminated. I recall it distinctly. I spent the week in Virginia, I traveled home late after a full day in the office there, and saw an email come in at nearly mid night as I settled in to bed.

That email would change my life. A meeting request for 7:30 the next morning. I was tired, what ever the topic, it could wait til morning. The next morning I got a call from Virginia where I was the day before, and was informed my position had been eliminated. Shock I think was the most prevalent emotion, followed by many other.

Shocked, and down, but not out. I set 2 goals.

As I look back, I consider the places I used to work. My career, my identity as a professional, and how proud I am of achieving so many goals. I could vent and pine about companies, and decisions I didn't agree with, but thats not me.

Most of all I think about the people….I miss the people. When we are a part of a team we bond, we share, we learn together we grow and achieve together. If you are reading this and our paths have crossed over the last 30 years in the food business, thank you! In every situation I try to learn from others, and share any pieces of wisdom I can that may benefit others. I am proud of the legacy I have left. No, it's not a patent, or a published paper, or leaving my name behind, it's the thought that somewhere someone is reading this and a memory of me makes them smile. Thats what is important to me.

I am blessed.

Goal#1 was to start a business where I could share what I have learned with others. I have been working with great teams since starting my business. It has been a whirlwind, and I continue to challenge myself and others to learn and grow. Leading by example, and enjoying getting back to my roots in R&D and QA. A huge thanks to those who have trusted me to help.

If you need help let me be a part of the solution in the meat protein R&D or Quality Space.

Goal#2 find the right fit, and culture to continue my legacy.

I look forward to continuing my journey. Bringing solutions to people and companies achieving together to solve challenges big or small. #MeatScience#Quality#SmallBusiness#Teams
